So here is the kicker…..everyone does it different
Before I start I want to say there is never a right way or a wrong way to do something it is just how I get my creative mind flowing.
Sketching Sessions, if you haven’t heard, is all about sharing my process with how I get my seasonal (mini) sessions already.
Being a born and raised Michigan woman, and still living here I was always wanting to venture outside of my comfort zone, so why not make something completely out of this world just ideas?
Coming up with an Idea:
Every day I spend about 15 mins writing down ideas, even if they are crazy ones! Anything that can be turned into a session, event, name, or anything for dog photography. Yes, some may not even see the light of day but the ones that do I go through and plan them out.
Organizing & Making the Vision:
The next step is to bring my idea through photos, colors, drawings any art form you can think of. I am someone in the past that loves to draw so I always grab a pencil and sketch out the setup for lights, props, and subjects. All of my vision boards are created on Canva and have really helped me feel organized. This is the point in the process where I contact a local studio or rent props I need to plan on.
Marketing & Social media:
The final step in this Part I is I then create the name and write up all the ins and outs of the session. The time, date, need for assistance, the type of people I am looking for as clients, and the theme of the seasonal session. Once that is all planned then I post it and see the feedback!
This whole process is one that does take time and has a long breakdown. I love every point of this process because I know that my clients can get the best version of my seasonal session and of me when it comes to the shoot day!
